NOT everyone has the courage to leave everything behind to go after their dreams. But British pop singer Amy Pearson chose to make that difficult decision.
Growing up in the UK, she began to sing at the age of 3. At 17, she decided to go to Australia to develop her music career. Her first album Who I Am (《我是谁》) came out recently. She came to China on November 24 and held a mini concert. Teens talked to the 21-year-old.
Teens: You have come to China to shoot a video about the Beijing Olympics. Can you talk more about the video?
Amy: It was an exciting eXPerience. I went to the Great Wall to make my music video. The video wants to present the scene when the athletes all come together — they"re ready to compete in the intense competition.
Teens:Why didn't you stay in the UK to develop your music career?
Amy: UK is a country with good music traditions. But I met the producer Gary Barlow and he introduced me to the SonyBMG company in Australia. They"re people who have faith in me. I was 17 and began to take responsibility for the decisions I was making in my life. I know what I want now, and I'm going after it with everything I have.
Teens: What's the most exciting thing about being a professional singer? What's the most boring part?
Amy: The best part lies in the excitement of performing live. I feel so energetic and joyful being on stage, and I love that feeling. I also enjoy doing promotional work around the world and visiting different places. The boring part is the repetitive recording in the studio. You need to have the patience to do it again and again!
Teens: What two things would you say to people who have aspirations like you?
Amy: First, be brave to go after things you love in life. Second, have faith in yourself. I have had the eXPeriences that my producers turned out to be liars and the companies were fake. ?But I carried on with my dream, then I met the right person.
