联系我们短语动词在四级考试中占有重要地位，不仅词汇部分而且阅读理解、完形填空 英译汉都涉及到短语动词。就短语动词出题的方式大约有以下几种。
A.试题的选项是由一个动词和不同的介词或副词搭配而成的短语。解这类题必须弄清该动词与不同的介词或副词所形成的搭配的具体意思，同时要根据上下文选择恰当的搭配填空。
例1 Ted agreed to ____ the strike if the company would satisfy the demand of the workers. A) call out B) call off C) call to D) call on 答案为B)。意思是"取消"(罢工)。 例2 The engine ____ smoke and steam.
A) gives up B) gives in C) gives away D) gives off 答案为D)。意思是(发动机)"排放出"(烟和气)。
B.试题的选项中动词后的介词或副词是同一个，而四个选项的动词却不一样。
例3 The bank manager asked his assistant if it was possible for him to ____ the investment plan within a week.
A) work out B) put out C) make out D) set out 答案是A)。
题干中能够放在"投资方案"(the investment plan)之前的只有work out(制订，设计)。

C.题目中表面上要求选出动词或介词，其实是在考察对动词短语的掌握。做这样的题必须细心，根据题干中制约选项的关键词确定答案。
